Kinja'd!!!

Since I was out and about I decided to stop into Taco Bell for a quick bite because it was in the same shopping center as the grocery store . I really shouldn’t have done that. I didn’t eat there last week because they weren’t accepting cards, but like an idiot I tried again.

1) The lid on my tea was not on properly and it spilled on my phone.

2) The Mexican Pizza tasted bitter and rancid, and was inedible. In fact, over an hour later I can still taste it in my mouth and it makes me want to gag. I had no choice but to throw it away.

3) The combo I ordered was supposed to come with two taco supremes, but I asked them to make those as soft tacos instead of hard shell. That’s what I got - two soft tacos, not two soft taco supremes. I didn’t think I’d have to be that specific - why would I pay for ingredients that I don’t want? All I wanted them to do was j ust change the shell...

4) The cashier had her facemask over her mouth but not her nose. She wasn’t wearing glasses, so I can’t think of a reason not to cover one’s nose. My glasses get fogged up when wearing a mask but I do it anyway, but she had no such excuse.

5) When I called to complain I got a recording saying they were all busy and to call back later, and then the machine hung up on me.

I did enter my complaints on their online survey, but we’ll see if anyone is actually paying attention. My expectations were quite l ow, but somehow they didn’t even manage to meet those. Now I remember why I don’t eat there very often...

...And that’s what happens when you don’t wait for Taco Tuesday

But seriously, you should know better than to eat at a Taco Bell.

Sounds like a cacophony of catastrophe, but then again what did you expect from Taco Bell really?

Yeah, I know. I wonder if my favorite Mexican joint is serving again - it might be worth the 20 mile drive.

My expectations were low, but I mistakenly assumed that I would get what I ordered and that it would be edible. I don’t expect much from the employees so the issues there weren’t a surprise, but the food should meet a minimal standard, and this stuff didn’t.

I know that feeling. My closest Chinese takeout finally reopened last week after being closed since mid-March.

...I need to buy more TP [for my bunghole] now.

Agreed, but get used to it. Try getting gluten free food back when people thought it was some sort of conspiracy or maybe you were delusional if you mentioned it. Special ordering has a low success rate, but that's a failure even by late night Wendy's standards. Disgusting.

lots of new hires at fast food places that just have no idea how to make toast much less anything else...  funny how we can try to avoid covid19 and end up dying of botulism

Ive always been of the mind that taco bell is only good if you order the cheapest stuff (bean burritos, plain tacos) and I love that stuff. Otherwise yeah hit a real Mexican place

The crazy thing is that it wasn’t too much of a custom order but something I’ve done without incident dozens of times in the past.

Gluten free? It’s people like my sister that ruined that for people that have celiac. When I asked her why she made her whole family go GF she could not give me a valid reason. I think she’s a Karen...

I left a package of TP from Costco in my car over the weekend. It’s a good thing I have tinted windows or I fear someone might have broken one to get at the TP.

I should have known better. Usually I get just that - a bean burrito and a couple of soft tacos. For some reason I decided to splurge today and I’m paying the price.

Ugh. That’s inexcusable.

150 years ago back in the 90s, I worked at Taco Bell and this crap infuriates me. Making the food there was beyond easy, and that was when we made the beans from scratch. All you have to do is give the tiniest of shits and this kind of thing wo n’t happen.

The real GF OGs remember how it used to be: bad. Say what you like about Karen s but they got GF on menus, or on separate GF menus in the best cases. That said people don’t take changing gloves seriously anymore because of this.

The single worst custom order you can make is to order a plain patty at Wendy’s. I have encountered 2 (!) people who knew how to put it in the system (it’s under SIDES!). The worst order fail I’ve ever had was the rankest messiest liquid mass of cheese ever dumped on a potato - that I didn’t ask for - which I the n dropped in the dark in a friend's car and never found. Never. It smelled terrible

I know this was probably a joke, but it sounds familiar when you try to have an order modified to meet dietary restrictions:

Kinja'd!!!

It got them a lot of press, but is all press good?

At least then I would know what I was in for. Would it be OK to mix surströmming with Limburger cheese?

If you’ve managed to avoid that much fast food I congratulate you. For the most part you’re not missing much. For me Taco Bell is a little bit nostalgic, where we would go to for an occasional treat. Nostalgia ain’t what it used to be, and TB hasn’t improved with age.

I stopped at a local Taco Bell not long ago purely because the Wendy’s next door didn’t have hamburgers. The food was meh, but I was actually impressed with their operations.

The credit card machine was on a board so they could put it out the window so they didn’t have to take your card. If someone payed cash they had a cup on a ruler that you dropped your cash into and change went into a separate cup that they would give you . The food bags were sealed folded over with tape  and held on a tray when handed out the window so the cashier never even touched the bag let alone the food. Everything that went out the window was wiped down afterwards. The cashier changed gloves after each order. I was truly impressed. If the food was at all redeeming I might become a regular just for the amount of effort they’re going through.

Taco Bell serves a purpose, as someone with IBS that fluctuates between constipation and the opposite, it's a fast, cheap cure for the former. Also, when going out at night was permitted, it was the perfect late night eat something to help sober up place.

There are some bad franchisees out there. And even some of the good ones have an occasional mix. The mexican pizza is probably one of the more complicated menu items, so people who don’t know what they are doing will screw it up pretty easily. Still should not have tasted (or looked) like that, though.I stick with the burritos and tacos. You can also get quite a few vegan items, which I have tried just to see what they taste like - not too bad.

But I also am a little biased. You probably can guess why! :)
